Severiano Ballesteros was known for his skills to escape the most complicated situations; but his most distinguishable feature was his humility, his sense of sportsmanship and fair play. Seve Ballesteros died on his house at the age of 54, but he was loved and mourned. We should remember him and celebrate the way he lived. What makes this man so legendary?
His way to get away with approach shots from every imaginable obstacle anyone can find in a golf field...and out of it, made of Seve the guy you will love to have in your team, or the one you hate to have against. He has a natural talent to get out of trouble. It was like if he wanted to get in the mess just to figure how to get out of it; when Seve won his first Open Championship in the 1979 year, during a round he made the famous hit of his tee shot into a parking lot on the 16th hole and he made it out with a birdie. As a single player, he accumulate 91 professional victories; Seve has 50 records just on the European tour in which he was the first all the time, he won 9 PGA Tours and five majors on Open Championships in 1979, 84, 88 and 2 Masters in 1980 and 1983. When teaming up with his fellow Spaniard Jose Maria Olazabal in the Ryder Cup, he was unbeatable. Both had a record of 11-2-2 in the Ryder Cup and they were named "The Spanish Armada" after proving to be the most successful partnership on history.

Everyone loved to watch Seve plays; spectators and even other great players in the world. His charisma brought many into the field, and being witness of all his deeds when solving how to take out a birdie shooting from inside of a sand trap or from the woods was something to be amazed. The excitement he showed every time he wins was something that all spectators and competitors could share as if they were the ones who won the trophy. Everyone loved Seve until they had to play against him, nothing was more exciting for him than playing a match. Seve was a nightmare for the U.S. competitors. He scored 22 ½ points in 37 matches against them, also he was the winning Captain at the 1997 Ryder Club at Valderrama Golf Club in Spain; the first Ryder Cup held in Continental Europe. Seve was a natural leader, he always gave advice, he was moving everywhere inspiring and encouraging. He revived the Golf in Europe with his successful career; he made the Golf move to other nations like his homeland.
His interaction with other players always was fair and he never stopped to impress even his own rivals. One time playing against Johnny Miller at the British Open, both competitors got paired; Miller was playing part-time while Seve was making his shots through some balata trees. Seve shot around even par. Miller was so impressed that he couldn't stop talking about it. There are so many histories around this man, all are epic, great memories shared with so many people, family, fans and fellow players. Severiano Ballesteros left the world of mortals, but he was a legendary man and he always will be remembered... R.I.P. Seve.
